Real-time Closed Captioners

Job Description: U.S. Captioning Company is looking for experienced Real-time closed captioners for live or live-to-tape programming. This is a freelance opportunity for an experienced telecommuter with a high accuracy of speeds ranging from 180-300 WPM. The Real-time captioner will need real-time closed captioning software, two computers, 16GB of RAM or more (one for backup); three phone lines; one for audio feed, one for “on air” contact, (could be a cell) and a POTS line is also recommended to send captions out to stations. Other equipment/services needed include: two modems, (one for backup), hard wired high speed internet and captioning equipment.

Script Editor and Timecoder for Closed Captions on TV & Movies 

Job Description: If you’re looking for the perfect work from home role, U.S. Captioning Company could be a great fit. As part of our Offline/Post Production Team, you would edit transcripts of pre-recorded videos as the first step in the closed captioning process. Then, using special software, you could time the scripts to the program to aid the Hard of Hearing. We provide resources and demos of all of the processes. It’s a great opportunity to learn a new marketable skill in your own convenient environment!

No prior experience is necessary, however, strong knowledge and application of correct spelling and punctuation is very useful. Internet research skills will add to the accuracy of your editing, so this is an important skill.

You must have internet access with the ability to download audio and video files. You will need your own equipment, including a computer and Microsoft Word or Open Office. You may also choose to use headphones or a foot pedal, but these are not required.
